El Al has received approval from Turkish authorities to operate 2 aircraft to serve humanitarian purposes
Jerusalem. For the first time in 13 years in Turkey, an Israeli plane landed on Sunday. The country's airline El Al gave this information. According to the news agency Xinhua, El Al Israel is the only airline that canceled Istanbul's route in 2007. This was done due to strained relations between the two countries and high security costs.
Since then, no Israeli aircraft had been landed except for emergency and private aircraft. The Dreamliner aircraft landed in Istanbul at 7.30 am on Sunday. About 24 tons of humanitarian aid and equipment were loaded to aid the virus-affected America. It is the first aircraft in the series of flights to take the Medical Equipment from Istanbul to New York. Dreamliner aircraft are being used due to travel restrictions.
Waiting for approval to conduct regular flights
El Al has so far received approval from Turkish authorities to operate two aircraft to serve humanitarian purposes. However, clearance to conduct regular cargo flights is awaited. According to the Jerusalem Post, the aircraft will return to Tel Aviv from Istanbul before departing for New York.
