If Netanyahu fails to form government, elections will be held for the
fourth time
Tel Aviv. Benny Gantz's Blue and White Party has failed to form a government in Israel. The time given by the President to form the government ends on April 14. Now President Rouwen will give Benjamin Netanyahu of the Rivlin Likud Party a chance to form the government. Benny Gantz demanded more time from the President, which the President has rejected. On Sunday, the top leaders of the Likud Party requested the President to invite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form a coalition government.
Netanyahu missed only three seats to get a majority in the election
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party won 36 seats and its (Likud Party)-led right-wing organization got 58 seats in the March 2 election. The Blue and White Party of main opposition Beni Gantz won 33 seats and its (Blue and White) -led leftist faction got 55 seats. A 120-seat Israeli parliament requires 61 seats for a majority. Apart from these main parties, other smaller parties had secured 15 seats. Netanyahu missed only three seats in this election to get a majority.
Benny Gantz got time till 14 April
The President first invited Benny Gantz's Blue and White Party to form the government. The time is ending on 14 April. Late on Saturday, Benny Gantz had asked the President for another 28 days, which the President rejected. The president can now invite Benjamin Netanyahu to form the government. If Netanyahu also fails to form the government, elections will be held for the fourth time in the country.
